Agreeing to these terms

These terms apply when you use this website or ask Craftsman Escondido Concrete and Masonry for a quote, so please read them before you book work with us. By using the site or scheduling a job, you agree to them.

When we sign a written contract for your project, that contract governs the job. If it says something different from this page, the contract wins.

What we do

We're a masonry contractor in Escondido, CA, and our crew builds and repairs brick, block, stone and concrete work for homes in Escondido and the cities around it. That includes foundation repair, retaining walls, chimneys, fireplaces, pavers, walkways, veneer and pointing. You can see the full list on our home page and read more about our crew on the About page.

The service descriptions on this site are general. What we'll actually do at your house is what's written in your quote or contract, because every wall, slab and chimney is different once we see it in person.

Estimates and pricing

We give free quotes on site, and there's no pressure to book. A quote is based on what we can see and measure that day, plus the materials and scope we've agreed with you.

Masonry sometimes hides problems until the job is open, like a cracked footing, rotted backing or soft soil behind an old wall. If we find something that changes the work or the price, we'll stop, show you and get your approval before we go ahead with any extra work.

A quote is good for the period written on it. After that, material costs can change, so we may need to update it.

Scheduling, delays and cancellation

We'll agree on a start date with you and keep you posted if it moves. Rain, heat, material delays, inspections and permit timing can push a schedule back, and we won't pour or lay mortar in conditions that would hurt the finished work.

If you need to reschedule or cancel, please call us as early as you can. If we've already ordered custom materials or started work, you may be responsible for those costs as set out in your contract.

Any cancellation rights you have under California law stay in place, and nothing on this page takes them away.

Payment

Your contract will list the deposit, if any, the payment schedule and the forms of payment we accept. Payments are due on the dates or project stages written there.

If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's settled. We'll talk with you before that happens, because we'd rather sort it out than leave a job half done.

Your part of the job

We need clear access to the work area, and somewhere to stage materials and park our equipment. Please let us know about sprinkler lines, buried cables, septic systems or anything else underground that we can't see from the surface.

You're responsible for knowing where your property lines are and for any approval your HOA requires. If a permit is needed, your contract will say who is getting it.

Warranties and what they don't cover

Any warranty on our work is the one written in your contract, and it covers only what it names. Materials such as brick, block, stone, pavers and sealers carry their makers' warranties, which we'll pass along to you where we can.

Concrete and mortar can show small hairline cracks and slight color differences as they cure, and natural stone varies from piece to piece. These are normal and aren't defects. A warranty also doesn't cover damage from earthquakes, flooding, tree roots, ground movement, misuse, or work done by others after we've finished.

Apart from what's written in your contract, our work and this website are provided as they are, without other promises, to the extent the law allows.

Limits on our liability

To the extent California law allows, Craftsman Escondido Concrete and Masonry isn't liable for indirect or follow-on losses, such as lost use of your property or lost income. Our total liability for any job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.

This doesn't limit any responsibility the law won't let us limit, including for our own negligence that causes injury.

Using this website

The information here is general and is meant to help you understand masonry work, not to replace an inspection of your house. We try to keep it accurate, but we can't promise it's complete or up to date.

The text and photos on this site belong to us, so please don't copy them for commercial use without asking. Links to other sites are there for your convenience, and we aren't responsible for what those sites say or do.

If something goes wrong

If you're unhappy with any part of the job, call us first. Most problems get fixed fastest when we come back out and look at them together, and we'll work with you in good faith to make it right.

If we can't settle it that way, these terms and any contract between us are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any legal claim will be handled in the courts of San Diego County, including small claims court where it applies.

Changes to these terms

We may update this page from time to time. The version posted when you sign your contract is the one that applies to your job, and later changes won't apply to work already under contract unless we both agree in writing.
